Kevin B. Horton, MD, FACP, CPI – Principal Investigator
Dr. Horton received his Doctor of Medicine in 1982 from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock, TX. He received his certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1985. Dr. Horton has practiced in Shreveport, LA; Cleveland, TX; Humble, TX; and San Antonio, TX, where he has called home since 1998. In 2009, Dr. Horton received the designation of Certified Physician Investigator (CPI) from the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators.
Dr. Horton has acted as Principal Investigator with IMED Research since 2006 and has conducted over 25 clinical trials. His research experience includes: Hypertension, Type II Diabetes Mellitus, Gout, Osteoarthritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Atrial Fibrillation, Nocturia, Opioid Induced Constipation in patients with chronic non-malignant pain, a comparative study in patients with Coronary Artery Disease to reduce upper GI events, Long Term Dual Antiplatelet Therapy, Migraine Headaches, Lipid, and Osteoporosis with IV therapy in post-menopausal women with low bone mass.

Bethany G. Urrabazo – Sr. Clinical Research Coordinator
Bethany Urrabazo received her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2004 from Lacrosse University, St. Louis, MO, a Division of Lacrosse University at Wisconsin. She worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator for Phase I clinical trials for 4 years while earning her master’s degree at The University of Texas at Austin in 2007. She is enrolled to begin a doctoral program in December of 2009 with plans of becoming a Naturopathic Doctor with a focus in Endocrinology.
Bethany has been a Clinical Research Coordinator since 2004 and a Certified Clinical Research Professional since 2006 and has helped conduct over 54 clinical trials ranging from Phase I (first in man) to Phase III (multi-center and large group trials) and some Phase IV (post-marketing trials). Bethany joined IMED Research in 2008.

Debra J. Sloss – Clinical Research Coordinator / Research Nurse
Debra Sloss received her Licensed Practical Nurse in 1984 while serving in the U.S. Army. She was a Medical Instructor and Trainer for the Texas National Registry Emergency Medical Technicians at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX, from 1990 to 1994. She retired from the U.S. Army in 1998. Debra earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Administration and Business Administration in 1996 from Wayland Baptist University, San Antonio, TX. She is currently attending Excelsior College, Albany, NY where she plans to earn an associate’s degree in Registered Nursing. She is trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (CPR).
Debra has helped conduct over 60 trials ranging from Phase I (first in man) to Phase III (multi-center and large group trials) and some Phase IV (post-marketing trials). Her research experience began in 1994 with the U.S. Army where she helped conduct clinical trials involving burns and trauma. Debra joined IMED Research in 2008.
